Abstract
In Europe, Gout was well known to the ancients and to physicians in all subsequent centuries, but in Asia, it was thought that Gout was a very rare condition until 1940s.
After W.W.II, especially since 1960s, many articles showed the tendency of remarkably increasing its number in the Far East.
A brief historical review and discussion on the diagnosis and its treatment were done to emphasize that Hench¢¥s "Gout is seen commonly if kept in mind." could be true in Asia also.
